By Bobbie Jean Merck

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live” (John 5:25). The quickening of the Holy Spirit for the priority, emphasis, and focus in prayer at this pivotal and critical season is that this nation, the Church of America, and each person in the military “hear the voice of the Son of God”. There is a serious hovering of the Holy Spirit over this nation. There is a serious call of the Holy Spirit to the Church of America to focus on God and not on self. The Holy Spirit is drawing the military, as well as multitudes of others, to a sincere abiding in Christ.

Psalm 91 is the Magna Carta of protection and safety in God. However, we would be cruel not to point out the basic truth for all of its tremendous promises to be an actual reality in one’s life. That truth upon which all its glorious promises prevail is, “…because he hath set his love upon me”. That is a fact of total surrender, willingness, and obedience. There is an over-ruling need and necessity for God’s people to “fall in love with God” once again.

Indeed, the mind is renewed by what we hear. Is our mind hearing God and godly words, or is our mind hearing the bombardment of present day circumstances that exist in the natural and even in the world of evil? Only an individual can answer that.

The tongue and actions reveal what is in the heart and mind. Therefore, we need to have the witness of the Holy Spirit to determine thoughts, words, and actions. We need to hear, see, and be honest in assessment of the facts.

A professional may have to examine your body for its position of health, but you and God’s Word can examine and determine your spiritual and mental health and status. The first four letters of health are heal. The desire of God is for us “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them” (Deuteronomy 30:19, 20); and that, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 2).

And, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). Notice, it is the world! God wants all men saved and coming into the full knowledge of the Truth and the Lord Jesus Christ! We are to grow in grace and in knowledge in our Lord Jesus Christ.

At all times, and in every situation and circumstance, the need is to “see God”. When we look to Him, all else pales and becomes small and insignificant. As King Jehoshaphat said, “O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee” (Chronicles 20:12), so must we keep our eyes upon the Lord.

“…Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's” (2 Chronicles 20:15). The word dismayed may seem small and insignificant until you know its implications. The Hebrew defines it as one being broken, astonished, afraid, confounded, alarmed, crushed, in despair, terrified. Being broken results in destruction, and destruction goes into de-mobilization, and from this the curse of panic. When one is dismayed one is discouraged and beaten down. Indeed, Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But! Jesus comes to give life, and that we may have it more abundantly.

“…they that hear shall live!” To hear in John 5:25 means to understand, to hear with the ear and the mind, to hear effectually or to perform or grant what is spoken. When one “hears”, one is willing and obedient. One test of our “hearing” is, it effects our lives; change for the good things of God can be seen – we know it and others discern it about us. Thus, to hear is to be a witness of the Lord Jesus Christ and give testimony. People will take note that you have been with Jesus.

O! the cry of the Holy Spirit is “hear”, ye people! Our prayers have so focused on God “returning to this land and revival”, but God wants all to return to Him! “Look up for your redemption draweth nigh!” “Look to Him and be saved!” Does He not say, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up” (James 4:7-10)?

Another Truth that the Holy Spirit is emphasizing is found in John 4:35-36, “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.” What is He saying to us? Stop waiting for “it” to happen. It is happening! Start reaping! Do you remember the lepers’ wisdom found in 2 Kings 7:3? “…why sit ye here until we die?” Likewise, don’t sit but rise, take up your bed of languishing, and walk as the Holy Spirit leads you!

Jesus promised wages to the reapers! And life eternal! That they who sow and they who reap may rejoice together! Together! Does that imply our sowing and reaping would mean the end of jealousy, divisions, splits, and being critical of one another? Together! Jesus sacrificed that God might have a body on the earth to do His will. A body made up of many parts, but not parts scattered here and there. Together!

Jesus said, “I’ll build My church.” The good news is His Church which consists of many members belongs to Him! That takes the cutting edge of accusation and fear off us when we know and understand, it is His church, His ministry, and His people. Then we stop trying to get “all” to measure up to “our” standard. Instead, we speak the Truth in love and lovingly portray Truth that will lead ourselves and others to His standard of measurement. His standard will be raised!

As we focus on God, we cease summarizing today’s circumstances and tomorrow’s future in our limited vision. Rather, we see today’s circumstances and tomorrow’s future through God’s vision. Many times you can read in the scriptures, “and it came to pass”. This literally means, blessings are present after a hard time of trouble. Saints! Darkness can never quench light! Light, victory, God will always triumph! Amen.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Rom 8:28).

“But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ's victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere” (2 Corinthians 2:14 AMP).

“The grace (favor and spiritual blessing) of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the presence and fellowship (the communion and sharing together, and participation) in the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen (so be it)” (2 Corinthians 13:14 AMP).

Have you ever suspected that you may have a certain disease or ailment? The thought of it continued to worry you. You rebuked the devil, the suspected infirmity, and spoke the Word. But the thought kept coming. So, one day your thought, “Enough is enough”. You then went to the doctor, or maybe you looked the supposed malady up in Webster’s Dictionary. When the doctor said, “No, all is well,” or Webster gave a definition to which none of those symptoms were applicable to you – the weight lifted, the thought and the worry were gone, and peace and joy filled your mind.

It is written:

“So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way” (John 4:46-50).

The question is, when will we believe His Word, and go the way God intends?
