God's Cry for Watchmen By Bobbie Jean Merck
...you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to thousands of angels in joyful assembly. You have come to the assembly of God's firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge of all people. And you have come to the spirits of the redeemed in heaven who have now been made perfect. Hebrews 12:22-24 The New Living Translation

What an absolute proclamation of liberty, righteousness, and freedom the above verses decree about us, the Church of the Living God. Therefore, we can look to Isaiah 62:1-3, 6, 7, 10-12 with full confidence in God to hasten and to perform His Word for us. We have learned through Hebrews 12 that the Church is referenced as the present day spiritual Zion and spiritual Jerusalem. Certainly we know absolutely the born again believer is the redeemed. Therefore our faith can look to God for His perfect will to be accomplished in the Church as stated in Isaiah 62.
New Living Translation Let’s look at those glorious truths so that we can expect them to happen in our generation.
These are to be earnestly and unceasingly prayed, addressed to God for fulfillment in a cry that knows the faithfulness of God! God through the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 62:1 assures us of His continuous intercession to bring this to pass. Jesus is the One Who is doing this. “Therefore He is able also to save to the uttermost (completely, perfectly, finally, and for all time and eternity) those who come to God through Him, since He is always living to make petition to God and intercede with Him and intervene for them” (Hebrews 7:25 The Amplified Bible). His goal is that through righteousness and salvation working so mightily in us, kings will see His glory. He wants His glory to be a living manifested reality in our lives! We are all kings and priests in His kingdom. His kings should see and experience His glory. We might add the truth that His leaders are kings. Therefore, leaders in the Body of Christ should see, experience, and release His glory. This is apostolic manifestation of our Great Apostle and High Priest and King, Jesus Christ. When this happens, others will “glorify God in us”. This is part of “The Cause: Jesus Christ & His Kingdom!" Some of the Hebrew meanings of "glory" (revealing what we should expect and produce) is to be heavy, weighty, numerous; people of honor and esteem and of His majesty; abundant in wealth; great and mighty; impressive; effective because you “carry a lot of weight” in weighty matters. Jesus is the ultimate revelation of glory as He walked the earth being the Son of Man. Because glory also means cover, mantle, and robe; the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, and the anointing and giftings of God should rest mightily upon our lives. Glory is the force of God’s goodness manifested in the physical realm. God says in Isaiah 62:6,7 that He will accomplish all of His proclaimed blessings found in this chapter by His intercessor-watchmen. Jesus is the High Priest of our confession (Hebrews 3:1). As we cry out in intercession, He takes our cries to God. He is especially calling forth this gift of ministry today. These watchmen have a fiery passion for “The Cause." They function in the kingly anointing with authority, power, positive-forceful-endurance and confidence. They align themselves with God’s prophetic proclamations in the Word and true God-prophecies that go forth now (and have gone forth) for the times and seasons. They will not give up or stop until it is birthed, as we see in Daniel, chapter 10. Watchmen have and operate in both the apostolic and the prophetic anointing. These anointings are indeed in the Christ without measure, and are available to every believer in Christ even though they may not be in the ministry gift office of apostle and prophet. That is why we are “all sent” (apostolic and governmental-authority) and we “all may prophesy” (prophetic anointing to see, hear, speak and act as the Prophet Jesus would). Watchmen have a solid apostolic-prophetic-pioneer spirit. You might say watchmen are seen in the tribe of Issachar who saw, heard, knew and spoke counsel and wisdom concerning the times and the seasons of Israel. Watchmen perceive, discern and have “the same spirit of faith” as Joshua and Caleb had. Therefore they speak as sons of faith, and they cast cares and burdens over onto the Lord, and then enter into confident trust and rest that “it is done and all is well." Because watchmen are pictured as being “on the wall” they work in the spirit realm and from the position of Ephesians 2:6. “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus….” From this position they never retreat, they advance! Earthly conditions and circumstances cannot hold them down. They have a sense of defense, a heart for birthing God’s proclamations, and an inner conviction of responsibility to God and to mankind. Watchmen exemplify the strength of the Christ Whose they are and Whom they serve. They are moved and led by the Holy Spirit, and walk with faithful, concentrated determination and are as tenacious as a bulldog. I am reminded of a rather sad, true story which does illustrate these watchmen characteristics. In our county a young man had a 50 lb. pit bull safely chained to a tree in his country home yard. A 500 lb. cow ran through the yard. The dog was infuriated because the cow had invaded his turf. He literally pulled the tree up and started chasing the cow with the tree and chain in tow. He chased that cow round and round until he absolutely wore the cow out. He then attacked and killed the cow. No charges were made against the dog’s owners. The cow was at fault. It should have been fenced in its own pasture, on its own turf. Saints, that is a sad, rather gruesome and dramatic story. However, it illustrates the tenacity and strength that we should have in faith as believers so that we will rise up and if necessary, chase the devil with our watchmen-prophetic-prayers until we in Christ make him flee and destroy his works. Satan's purpose and goal is to "wear down the saints." (See Daniel 7:25.) Yet, it is written, "...greater is he that is in me (us), than he that is in the world" (1John 4:4). In Him, let us determine to wear down Satan! Luke 18:1-8; Job 22:28; and John 14:12-14 are strong apostolic-prophetic-watchmen scriptures. In fact, Jesus asks if He will find this kind of faith when He returns (Luke 18:8). God tells watchmen to give HIM no rest until His cause, purposes, and proclamations come to pass. We must not cease authoritative, earnest prayer because it is God’s proclaimed will to make His Church and Kingdom a praise in the earth. The Hebrew language describes "watchmen" as those who are to guard, to hedge around with something, to keep, and to preserve. They are to observe and attend. And they have the strong characteristic of self-control, being able to abstain themselves from works of flesh. The Greek language tells us “watch” means to rouse; to watch, and to refrain from sleep. It denotes attention to God’s revelation or to the knowledge of salvation; a mindfulness of threatening dangers, which, with conscious earnestness and an alert mind, keeps one from all drowsiness and all slackening in the energy of faith and conduct. We find the word “watch” in such New Testament scriptures as Matthew 26:40,41; 24:42; Luke 21:36; Acts 20:31; 1 Thessalonians 5:6; and Hebrews 13:17. The Greek meaning of “watch” is to give strict attention, to be cautious and active; to be discreet, attentive and ready; always alert and on guard; to be sober, calm, collected and circumspect. We can thank and praise God that all of this (and more) is possible as we do what Second Timothy 1:14 in the Amplified Bible tells us to do. “Guard and keep [with greatest care] the precious and excellently adapted [Truth] which has been entrusted [to you], by the [help of the] Holy Spirit Who makes His home in us.” Both the Hebrew and Greek meanings of the words "watchman," "watch," and "watcher" were taken from the Hebrew Greek Key Word Study Bible. The following testimony is given to God’s glory on behalf of His watchmen.
Saints, God is calling His people (every born again believer) to “get on the wall” and raise the standard to a new level. It is time for the Church to be a (His) praise in all the earth! It is time for the standard of victory, Jehovah-Nissi, to be raised, seen, and experienced! Will you, dear believer, hear the cry of God’s heart and respond, “Yes, Lord, here am I, use me, send me!”
