 Biblical Guidelines for Prayer

In and under the new and better covenant in the Lord Jesus Christ, each and every believer is required, accountable and responsible to God to judge for him or her self personally, every and ALL prophecies, teachings, and instructions whether they be of God for this age or for them personally.

In the days ahead, we will have opportunity to hear many things spoken, both good and evil, either through our immediate sphere of influence, through the news, or in the course of things being circulated through the Body of Christ. We will have to judge in the spirit the credibility and soundness of what we hear, as well as the relevance to our God-given assignment.

In the spirit of providing guidance and leadership to the intercessors God has entrusted into our care and called along side us to fulfill our assignment as prophetic intercessors of A Great Love Ministries, I submit to you the following instructional guidelines. I pray that they will assist you in handling the increasing flood of information in a godly manner, especially in regards to the war on terrorism and the weighty matters facing our generation.

This is the DAY OF GOD’S SALVATION, not destruction!

Let us not confuse this present-day dispensation of grace, the age of the church, with the Old Testament dispensation and prophets before the coming of the Saviour, the Prince of Peace, Who has come to guide our feet into the paths and ways of peace, The Prophet Jesus Christ! This is the day of His resurrection and power! Jesus Christ is the Resurrection and the Life! "Jesus responded, ‘Didn’t I tell you that you will see God’s glory if you believe?’"

(John 11:40 NLT).

Luke 9:52-56 relates the incident when the disciples wanted to call down fire from heaven to destroy people.

Jesus soundly rebuked them.

"…they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. And they did not receive him...And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them."

My assignment is to be a prophet of RUACH ~ THE LIFE-BREATH OF ALMIGHTY GOD! Those God has chosen to join with me are called with the same calling. We are to pray, speak, decree, pronounce and pursue the glory of God. Jesus is the Saviour Who came not to condemn the world, but to bring His abundant life. He is "The Life". He is the Healer and the Deliverer of this world. We appropriate on behalf of this generation and those to come the manifestation of His goodness and tender mercies, and to see His miracles released which overrule the wicked strategies of darkness. He is Mighty to save, and He saves to the uttermost. His will is for the nations to be blessed through the seed of Abraham which is Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

What does this mean for us today?

First and foremost, let us understand that God is not the perpetrator of such atrocities as 9/11. He is not punishing America and bringing judgment on her. He did not send the attack. Satan is the operative behind such acts of destruction. Satan is the thief, who comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy. That is his signature. Jesus came not to condemn the world, but to save it. However, He also came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). He came to preserve peace. We may be called upon to resist those who threaten peace and life, and to resist the evil that has arisen that opposes and threatens righteousness, truth, and justice.

As President George W. Bush said in his address to the nation February 26, 2003 concerning the war on terrorism, "…we will not allow the triumph of hatred and violence in the affairs of men….And we are opposing the greatest danger in the war on terror: outlaw regimes arming with weapons of mass destruction….The danger must be confronted. We hope that the Iraqi regime will meet the demands of the United Nations and disarm, fully and peacefully. If it does not, we are prepared to disarm Iraq by force. Either way, this danger will be removed. The safety of the American people depends on ending this direct and growing threat. Acting against the danger will also contribute greatly to the long-term safety and stability of our world."

"The United States and other nations are working on a road map for peace….All of us want peace. The threat to peace does not come from those who seek to enforce the just demands of the civilized world; the threat to peace comes from those who flout those demands. If we have to act, we will act to restrain the violent, and defend the cause of peace. Members of our Armed Forces also understand why they may be called to fight. They know that retreat before a dictator guarantees even greater sacrifices in the future. They know that America’s cause is right and just: liberty for an oppressed (Iraqi) people, and security for the American people."

How then do we pray?

The Holy Spirit shows us things to come in order for us to intercede, not to accept, if they fall under the heading of the thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10).

John 16:13,14 says, "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into

all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He

will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He

will take of Mine and will disclose it to you" (NAS).

During the early seventies I had a prophetic dream relating to a future tragic death. All I

knew to do was to pray in the Holy Spirit (in other tongues). I did not know then what I

know now about the power of authority to completely stop the accident. Though an accident

happened, the individual came through without a scratch.

In July 1983, the Lord sent me into the nation of Guatemala in the midst of great threatenings

of intended violence against the President of Guatemala, many heads-of-state, and

Guatemalan people in a country with a long history of political upheaval through bloody coups d’etats. Prophecies were abundant, predicting a blood bath of such magnitude that blood would be flowing in the streets. People believed it was inevitable. I knew my assignment by Holy Spirit ~ to stop the coup through prayer. At the order of the President of Guatemala, the President of the Congress called a prayer meeting to be led by me, with many heads-of-state, and Guatemalan people from throughout the nation and from many different denominations. After seven hours of uninterrupted prayer in the Holy Spirit, the coup d’etat was averted completely, and there has not been another one since that day. To God be all the glory!

Our confidence in prayer is that we do not have to accept the "inevitable"

planned by the enemy.

As we see through Moses and Jeremiah, though something is "set", and seems to be "inevitable", prayer can change that. One dear, seasoned apostle-teacher of God, Dr. B.J. Willhite, profoundly taught us, "God’s last word is not necessarily His final word." He used the cry of the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:21-28 as one example.

Believe and trust your authority in Christ to defeat the enemy’s assignments.

Rise up strong, praying in other tongues. If He gives you something to decree, decree it in the All-powerful Name of Jesus Christ and His blood! Speak the Word, which is the sword of the Spirit, against the enemy and the evil reports.

Decree, "THERE SHALL NEVER BE ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL TERRORIST ATTACK ON OR IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!"

It is time to have complete confidence in Jehovah-Sabaoth, celebrating His triumph. Shout the victory. Sing with joy in the spirit. Dance exuberantly before Him. God will unleash His strength against the weapons of darkness when we praise Him.

Satan does not set the agenda for prayer. The Holy Spirit leads His people in strategic prayer ~ in prophetic intercession!

The enemy would enjoy nothing better than to render us ineffectual in our particular prophetic assignments by causing us to succumb to the pressure to fight every battle that appears on the horizon. Does not God order His army according to His wisdom and will? Persevere in your assignment.

Think big! In God ALL things are possible, and ALL things are possible to him who believes. Counter-attack the intercession of hell by RELEASING GOD’S GLORY.

Take authority in prayer, thereby turning what the enemy means for evil into good, expecting God’s wonders to manifest on behalf of His precious creation. Meditate on the awesome deliverances of God on behalf of the nation of Israel in time of war and national crisis. Will He do any less for us?

Major on mercy and perceive God’s assessment by renewing your mind, motives and attitudes to seek and to see God’s intended end result.

Do not pick up the spirit of criticism. Are we not instructed to go to the throne of mercy to find grace and mercy to help in a time of need? Be filled with hope, faith, and confidence in your prayers. Walk continually in love, mercy, grace, truth and compassion, believing that God will work on that individual or in that situation for which you are interceding to bring forth the best possible solution and godly transformation.

Speak that which is right and positive and pray in the Holy Spirit. Then:

 STAND STILL AND SEE THE

SALVATION OF ALMIGHTY GOD!
