Prayer Focus

On October 14, 2007 in New Jersey, as I was praying for the service, suddenly the power of God came upon me like lightning.  I was shocked! All I could do was bend over the pulpit and weep.  I could not speak.  Finally, I could pray and I knew the Holy Spirit was praying through me for the Church of America!  I cannot put the grief of the Holy Spirit for God’s church into words of English.

            This occasion was one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences.  This I know, God wants the Church of America to be His Kingdom, His light, His life, and His love to this nation.  He wants selfishness, strife, and division in His Church to stop. God wants God-centered and not self-centered people in the Body of Christ!

            The devil has deceived and tricked the Body of Christ to the degree they believe if you are going to be a holy people and a holy church you must not get involved with “dirty politics”.  That is a lie of the devil. The truth is, God has placed His people in a nation to take care of and to protect that nation. Not to do so is to submit to the spirit of stupor that God revealed in vision to Dr. Oral Roberts in June 1982.  This spirit is one of four that Satan was and is releasing upon the Body of Christ. Each person agrees to participate or not to participate with these spirits.

            It is time to “Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited” (Isaiah 54:2-3). Come out of your little church building programs and mindsets, and come into God’s Kingdom building program. 

We pray, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Do we mean it? It is dangerous to speak, to pray, or to sing what you don’t really mean.

            It is written, “…This is what Jeremiah’s letter said: The LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, sends this message to all the captives he has exiled to Babylon from Jerusalem: ‘Build homes, and plan to stay. Plant gardens, and eat the food you produce. Marry, and have children. Then find spouses for them, and have many grandchildren. Multiply! Do not dwindle away! And work for the peace and prosperity of Babylon. Pray to the LORD for that city where you are held captive, for if Babylon has peace, so will you.’

The LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says, ‘Do not let the prophets and mediums who are there in Babylon trick you. Do not listen to their dreams because they prophesy lies in my name. I have not sent them,’ says the LORD.  ‘The truth is that you will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again. For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the LORD. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me. I will be found by you,’ says the LORD. ‘I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and bring you home again to your own land’" (Jeremiah 29:3b-14 NLT).

How much more do you need? This is God’s heart! Some may say, “Well, that is only addressed to Israel, not us.” Oh, yes? I think (and know) not. 

 Consider the following scriptures ~all from the New Living Translation: 

“True, some of them were unfaithful; but just because they broke their promises, does that mean God will break his promises? Of course not! Though everyone else in the world is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say, "He will be proved right in what he says, and he will win his case in court"
(Romans 3:3-4). 

“Upright citizens bless a city and make it prosper, but the talk of the wicked tears it apart.  Godliness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people” (Proverbs 11:11;14:34). 

“When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily. But with wise and knowledgeable leaders, there is stability. When the godly succeed, everyone is glad. When the wicked take charge, people go into hiding. A wicked ruler is as dangerous to the poor as a lion or bear attacking them.  Wickedness never brings stability; only the godly have deep roots”
(Proverbs 28:2,12,15;12:3). 

“Without wise leadership, a nation falls; with many counselors, there is safety.  When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan” (Proverbs 11:14; 29:2).

Proverbs 28:9 NLT leaped off the page as I was reading it, “The prayers of a person who ignores the law are despised.” What? I had always thought of this as stealing, killing, adultery, etc. But today I see that as ignoring the laws of our nation; being like an ostrich; knowing that good and bad laws in the land exist, but doing nothing, typified by the ostrich burying his head in the sand to “get away from it all”.  God help us!

            Decree as God directs ~ more than before. Let us pray in the Spirit (in other tongues).

            I pray that righteousness, truth, and justice will reign over and in America as well as in our 2008 presidential and leadership elections.  Vote.  As Jesus watched offerings being given and making an analysis about them all, so is He watching your voting.
