Praying In The Spirit

“The LORD says, ‘I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.  When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue them and honor them.  I will satisfy them with a long life and give them my salvation’”  (Ps 91:14-16 NLT).

            At 12:45 a.m. the phone rang. Before I answered I knew who was calling. Yes, the voice said, “Hello, Ma Maw.” As he talked I could hear a heart and soul calling not his Ma Maw, but a minister. I immediately experienced the anointing of God to minister encouragement and strength to someone who was representing not only himself, but his team and battalion. They were leaving for Iraq.

For one hour, 45 minutes, and 45 seconds the Holy Spirit showed Himself strong and helpful to one who turned in full trust to Him. At the beginning I said, “Jonathan, I too have never walked this way before. All I know to do is to pray in the Spirit.” With that, he and I prayed in tongues (together in full agreement). Truly, Romans 8:26-28 was manifested with great results.

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:26-28

At intervals during our prayer, Jonathan would pray and decree in English. So many outstanding requests from his heart and the heart of God.  His earnest prayer included not only himself, but his entire battalion, the entirety of the military forces, and the salvation of the people of Iraq. He had three visions during this special time with God, and decreed or prophesied those into action. Indeed, “those who call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved”. This special time was concluded with his having assurance from God in multiple ways. This one summed it up, “I will be a wall of fire around you, and the glory in the midst thereof.” Indeed and amen!

For some time the Lord had been speaking urgently to me. I increasingly found, and find, the need to pray in the Spirit without ceasing. I shared this with Beth and once again, the vision of having praying in tongues 24/7 is the emphasis. If you can give even five minutes to this arm of “The Cause”, please contact our office. Your commitment for such a time as this is vital.

You may ask, “What shall I pray about?” The beauty of praying in tongues is that you don’t necessarily have to know. The Holy Spirit knows and He will pray through you. First John 5:14,15 will always be the result.

One thing I know, we must be “on the wall” for our nation. We must “stand in the gap” for our military. The need is great in many ways. In fact, they are too many to number. But! The Holy Spirit knows!
